This common vine climbed through 14 feet of plastic tubing before it found sunlight ... the first year there was only a leaf or two ... now look at it ... years later ... if left alone, someday it will split the tube that supports it ... it reminds me of a poison ivy tree I once saw ... as a vine it wrapped around a hemlock, climbing through 30 feet of trunk and branches ...the hemlock died and rotted... but by then the vine was strong and thick enough to support itself ... a tree in its own right ... I often wondered how long it took ... how old it was ... life boggles the mind.
